Welcome Iowa!

Trusted Coaches Gains Traction in Iowa

Spring Lake Park, MN – SportsPlex West is a multi-use sports facility located in Waukee, Iowa. The locally owned facility offers programming for youth sports in baseball, basketball, lacrosse, soccer, softball, and volleyball, and is the first program in Iowa to utilize Trusted Coaches. With programming for so many youth athletes, the ownership started looking for a partner to help with their risk management needs.

When asked why they joined Trusted Coaches, Director of Operations Chris Zrostlik said, “SportsPlex West has been searching for a single program that provides comfort in knowing our coaches and staff are trained in proper First-Aid and Concussion protocols. We also love the fact that Trusted Coaches provides comprehensive National Criminal Background Checks as a part of their program. We will use Trusted Coaches to help minimize the risk of harm and injury to our young athletes. We think Trusted Coaches is the one stop shop we have been looking for and we are looking forward to a continued, positive relationship with them moving forward.”

Trusted Coaches was created by the Minnesota Youth Athletic Services (MYAS) as a response to youth athletic associations’ need to train coaches and protect young athletes. The Trusted Coaches program includes first-aid training, concussion instruction, positive coach training through the Positive Coaching Alliance and a national criminal background check. Other programs are available a la cart and can also be customized to meet the needs of an organization.

From Brian Meeter, Trusted Coaches: “On behalf of the entire Trusted Coaches team, I am excited to welcome the coaches from SportsPlex West to our family of coaches. We are excited that such a reputable organization is dedicated to risk management and player safety. All coaches, parents, players, and fans will gain further confidence in their coaches because of their dedication to youth sports.”
